The aim of this Dictionary of Architecture is to create an agreed, comprehensive, easy-to-use, well-known and up-to-date reference dictionary that will serve as an essential resource for overcoming the obstacles faced by professionals and students in the field of architecture when working in Basque.

The project continues to grow year after year thanks to the commitment of the Basque Government’s Department of the Environment, Spatial Planning, Housing and Transport, as well as collaboration between architecture specialists and terminology professionals at the UZEI Centre for Terminology and Lexicography.

The dictionary currently contains around 9,800 terminological entries. Each entry provides the proposed Basque and Spanish equivalents for the relevant concept, classified by areas of architectural knowledge. In the current version, the terminological entries are distributed as follows:

• Spatial planning: 4%
• Urban planning: 9%
• Construction: 72%
• History and composition of architecture: 7%
• Graphic representation: 8%
